What Happens at a Hearing Exam?

If you’ve never had a hearing test before, don’t worry — it’s quick, painless, and actually kind of interesting.

There are no needles, no pressure, and no obligations. Just answers.

⏱️ How Long Does It Take?

Our hearing exams take about 60 minutes, start to finish.

You’ll leave with a clear understanding of how you’re hearing now, what (if anything) has changed, and whether hearing aids would make a difference.

👂 What the Test Looks Like

Here’s what we’ll do when you come in:

1. We talk.

We’ll ask about your hearing history, what you've noticed, and where you might be struggling. This helps us tailor the test to you.

2. We look inside your ears.

Using a small video otoscope, we’ll check for wax, blockages, or anything that might be causing temporary hearing issues.

You’ll even get to see your ear canal on a screen — most people find it fascinating!

3. We test your hearing.

This includes:

  • Pure-tone testing – You’ll press a button when you hear a beep

  • Speech recognition – We’ll check how well you understand words at different volumes

  • Speech in noise – To simulate real-world environments like restaurants or group conversations

4. We go over the results together.

You’ll see your audiogram (a visual chart of your hearing ability), and we’ll explain it in plain English — not medical jargon.

❓ Will I Need Hearing Aids?

Maybe. Maybe not.

If your hearing is within normal limits — great! You’ll walk out with peace of mind.

If we find hearing loss, we’ll show you what it means, where it’s coming from, and what options exist. There’s zero pressure to buy anything — we’re here to inform, not sell.

👂 Can I Try Hearing Aids During My Visit?

Yes. If hearing aids are recommended, we can often let you try them out in the clinic, programmed to your specific loss — so you can hear the difference immediately.

And if you choose to purchase, you’ll get a 30–60 day trial period to test them in the real world.

✅ You’ll Leave With:
  • A clear understanding of how you're hearing today

  • A copy of your test results

  • Expert guidance tailored to your situation

  • Answers — not pressure
