Meet the Specialists—and the Story Behind Clarity Hearing Care

Brad Wagner and Kevin Wagner founded Clarity Hearing Care with a mission rooted in family, experience, independence, and compassion. Raised in a hearing healthcare family, they grew up seeing firsthand the difference quality hearing care can make. Their father was a longtime hearing aid specialist who built one of the largest and most respected Beltone dealerships of its time, owning and operating 10 Beltone franchises throughout the Tampa Bay area.

Their passion for hearing care is also deeply personal. Brad and Kevin’s mother and sister were both born with severe congenital hearing loss. Growing up, they saw how hearing loss affected conversations at home, understanding speech in noisy or group settings, school, relationships, confidence, and everyday independence. Watching the people closest to them struggle to stay connected gave Brad and Kevin an understanding of hearing loss that goes far beyond professional training. Those experiences shaped a lifelong commitment to helping others hear more clearly and live with greater confidence.

Both Brad and Kevin became licensed hearing aid specialists as young adults and today bring nearly 50 years of combined experience to the patients and families they serve. After spending nearly 20 years with Audibel, they decided to open Clarity Hearing Care and build the kind of practice they would want for their own mother, sister, family, and friends. They wanted to create a truly independent, patient-focused practice that could serve the entire community—not only high-priced, private-pay patients—and provide meaningful choices for people with different hearing needs, lifestyles, insurance benefits, and budgets.

One of the most important differences at Clarity Hearing Care is that we are proudly independent and brand-neutral. Many hearing care offices are franchises, manufacturer-owned locations, or practices closely tied to one particular hearing aid brand. In those settings, the provider may be expected to recommend the products their office is contracted or encouraged to sell, even when another manufacturer may offer a better solution for a particular patient. At Clarity, we are not beholden to one company, one product line, or one sales program. Our recommendations are based on the patient sitting in front of us—not on what a franchise or manufacturer tells us we have to sell.

We work directly with the world’s leading hearing aid manufacturers, including Oticon, Phonak, Starkey, ReSound, Signia, and Widex. Each manufacturer has different strengths in areas such as speech clarity, background-noise performance, sound quality, rechargeable technology, smartphone connectivity, physical design, tinnitus features, and ease of use. There is no single hearing aid that is automatically best for every person. The right choice depends on the individual’s hearing loss, lifestyle, listening environments, technology needs, comfort, personal sound preferences, insurance benefits, and budget.

Because we have access to multiple manufacturers, we can often program and demonstrate hearing aids from two or even three different brands before a patient begins a formal trial period. This gives patients the opportunity to compare how different devices sound and perform rather than choosing from a brochure, advertisement, or sales pitch. Some patients immediately prefer the sound processing of one manufacturer, while others hear more clearly or feel more comfortable with a completely different platform. Our goal is for every patient to feel confident that they have explored the most appropriate options and selected their hearing aids based on their own experience and individual needs.

By the time a patient makes a final decision at Clarity, they will often have already seen, heard, or discussed the leading alternatives available to them. We never want someone to leave our office wondering whether another major brand might have been a better fit or wishing they had been shown something different. We take the time to explain the options, demonstrate the technology, and help each patient make an informed decision. Our job is not to pressure someone into buying the hearing aid we want to sell. Our job is to help them find the hearing aid that is right for them.

Clarity Hearing Care is also committed to offering current hearing aid platforms and the newest available product lines from the manufacturers we represent. Some warehouse clubs, private-label programs, and large retail models keep prices down by limiting product choices, reducing service, or offering technology based on previous-generation platforms. Those options may be appropriate for some people, but we believe patients should also have access to the newest and most effective technology available without automatically paying the inflated prices often associated with traditional hearing aid offices.

Instead of reducing costs by sacrificing technology, we use a more efficient and independent business model. We purchase hearing aids directly from the manufacturers, often in volume, without an unnecessary franchise company or outside middleman adding another layer of cost. This allows us to offer highly competitive pricing on many of the newest hearing aid circuits and platforms from Oticon, Phonak, Starkey, ReSound, Signia, and Widex. Our patients can access advanced speech processing, background-noise reduction, rechargeable batteries, Bluetooth connectivity, smartphone applications, artificial-intelligence-based features, remote adjustments, and other current technology while often saving thousands of dollars compared with traditional retail pricing for comparable devices and services.

Keeping costs down is only part of our mission. Brad and Kevin founded Clarity because they wanted to serve everyday people throughout the community, regardless of whether they were purchasing premium technology, using an insurance benefit, participating in a managed-care program, or working within a specific budget. Clarity accepts a wide range of insurance and hearing aid benefit plans and offers options across multiple technology and price levels. We believe every patient deserves to be treated with the same respect, patience, and compassion, and we will never assume that the most expensive hearing aid is automatically the best choice.

Successful hearing care also does not end when the hearing aids are purchased. Even the most advanced devices must be properly selected, professionally programmed, comfortably fitted, maintained, and adjusted over time. At Clarity, patients receive ongoing support from local professionals who know their hearing history and understand their technology. We provide comprehensive hearing evaluations, video otoscopy, hearing aid demonstrations, professional fittings, programming, follow-up adjustments, cleanings, repairs, maintenance, and assistance with Bluetooth and smartphone connectivity. Our goal is not simply for a hearing aid to function—it is for the patient to succeed with it in the situations that matter most.

Brad and Kevin founded Clarity Hearing Care to create the kind of practice they would want for their own family: independent, experienced, compassionate, transparent, and focused on the individual. A practice where patients are not limited to one manufacturer, where multiple brands can be compared before a final decision is made, where current technology is offered at competitive prices, and where recommendations are based on the patient’s hearing, lifestyle, technology needs, and budget.

Our mission is simple: to provide exceptional hearing care with compassion, honesty, experience, and genuine choice.

At Clarity Hearing Care, you are not being fitted with the hearing aid that we have to sell.

You are being helped to find the hearing aid that is right for you.
